Of felines and flowers

From the desk of Mama Piggy:

My poor chrysanthemum.

Kootoo: Hmmm, it looks edible ...
Muffy: Go on, fat boy, give it a nibble!

Kootoo: It even smells edible!

Kootoo: It IS edible!

Milo: Let me try it ...

Milo: Nom!

Muffy: Lovely lovely flowers ...

Muffy: ATTACK!

Yes, I know that chrysanthemums are toxic to cats, but somehow the cats really love to nibble the leaves. They need roughage, perhaps? We had to keep the flowers away from the kitties by putting the vase in Papa Porky's study.

NO cats were harmed in the photo-taking for this blog entry.

Mayb they would like some lettuce instead. Red leaf is our favorite and we will help ourselves if Mommy leaves the grocery bag unattended.

Maybe, that's why they only nibble because they feel something sharp on their tongue right after they have a slight taste of them...

To Arlene,

The nibbles are followed by chomps, and if we hadnt stopped Milo, he would have masticated the whole bush, sharp taste or not....

Funny thing is that he went only for the leaves and not the flower. When I placed plastic sunflowers in a vain attempt to decoy them however, Milo went instead for the flower and chomped on the cloth.

Strange kitty this one. Perhaps some cat psychologist can comment :)
