From the desk of Mama Piggy:
... when will Muffin outgrow this behaviour?
'Cos it is very ouch when he does it on ME!

Since each of us is blessed with only one life, why not live it with a cat?

hmmm... first time i see a cat knead and suckle (bite?) at the same time.
does he do this on you most of the time? this one not you right, in the video?
muffin... sayang...
Probably never. I am nearly three and still knead like crazy but only lick now.
Spencer did it too, when she was a kitten. Then one day, she just stopped. She was about 1 year old then. Poor Muffin, missing his mum huh
Muffin is doing it to a pink bolster in this video. But he does it to me sometimes, especially when he sleeps with us. It is a nasty thing to wake up to a cat biting you in the most sensitive body part. So we had to chuck him out of the bedroom henceforth. I've got cats that knead, but Muffy is the first one that kneads AND suckle (bite, whatever) at the same time ...
Whoa...it looks like Muffin really bites!
Jackie the community cat does knead and suckle occasionally when the mood strikes her, but she's a gentle lady, and would suckle on my t-shirt, not on bare skin.
Gucci does that too. But he... er... erm... er-hem... does it to himself. His nipples actually.
I had to assure his family that there was nothing wrong with him... that it was perfectly normal behaviour for a poor thing who lost his mother too early.
That they could understand. What they found harder to understand was why he had an erection as he suckled noisily on himself, especially since he had been neutered a long time ago.

Teddy is all of 9 glorious/grumpy years old, and still doing both... so I guess it's safe to say: "Nevah!"
But, he's not such an avid keanding suckler now, so I guess aging helps in that.
What comforting news you bring, Calsifer!
no charge ;-) just glad to be of service... oh, here's something you might like to try, if it's not already trialed... Teddy's particular fetish is to suckle blankies, with calves a very poor second, but we pull away the blankie victim, and with calves, we stop him with a "NO" command, and tap him on his nose if he persists. Nothing done about the kneading, since we're ok with it. The end result is the old coot suckles a lot less then he kneads now, and we like to think the education worked =|
As part of the offer pack during this promotional period, we're throwing in this great reference, absolutely FOC: Cats/Kittens who persistently suckle/Obssessive Compulsive Behaviour
Dolce still does this on her bed. Although she does not bite, but still suckles.
