Murder, He Wrote

From the desk of mortified Mama Piggy:

This, Ladies and Gentlemen, is the face of a killer.

A small bird (I believe it belongs to the hummingbird family with its long, curved beak. You're not expecting me to post a photo of the lifeless victim, ARE YOU?!?) happened to perch on our window grille and before you could blink your eyes, Kootoo Boy had it between his fangs.

Pure basic instincts at work, no fowl play suspected.

At least, this is what I think happened, because yours truly was checking on the other two kitties who were doing their WWF thang on my bed when suddenly I heard the sound of sharp claws on cold steel (okay, okay, our window grille is aluminium, but steel sounds more drama, heh). I shuffled out to the hall, and the gruesome sight of Kootoo stuffing a green birdie into his mouth greeted me.

By the time Papa Porky wrestled the limp thing from Kootoo's grasp, it was already dead with a broken neck.

The window is being fully meshed up as I type, to prevent the loss of innocent aviary lives.

Om Mani Padme Hum.

Whenever I observe a hunting alertness in any of the three cats, I will be on alert o rescue, nowadays, mostly geckos. No cockroaches as we make sure the home is clean for the sake of not attracting any unnecessary victims for the feline members of the household.

My short tails, ie KK, BB and YY, though chubby and look clumsy, are much better hunters than long and slim XX and CC.

Kootoo is tubby. He will always be a good hunter. :)

Amazing isn't it? For all that excess baggage Kootoo is carrying, he turned out to be one swift and precise hunter.

The only "comfort" was that the other 2 cats were not part of the fracas, can't imagine how to separate them if all 3 were involved -- they do become a different creature of sorts after they have smelled blood, and you don't wanna mess with them, not with that crazed look in their eyes.

vegancat, there are no more roaches in our flat, thanks to the cats. As for geckos, I think it's easier to spot the Abominable Snowman than to locate a lizard in my house. As for the usual bugs and winged insects, it's always too late when we find out, so we leave them to enjoy their "treats".

One thing I observed from my gang, when they are in a hunting mode, nothings stops them.

I remember once I tried rescuing a gecko from the cluthes of Junior, Carma & Alex. Carma saw me reaching for the helpless gecko, in one swoop, she swallowed the poor gecko. It was disgusting.

Haha Cat, Carma probably thought you were trying to steal her food for yourself!!

it is what i called the true nature of cats..my cat, DD had kills i think 3 to 4 lizards and 2 cockroaches so far... i am quite pleased actaully that DD helped to kill cockroaches but i am not so happy with her destruction of the lizard family in my house...

indeed jennifer, cats are natural 'pestbusters', who needs Baygon or Mortein anyway? Heh, to think of it, this is one good reason why cats make great HDB pets! And environmentally friendly to boot!
