It's been almost a year since Muffin came into our life.
Sometimes when I look back, I do wonder why I adopted him instead of the many other kittens and cats that were available at Phyllis' cattery. Afterall, the poor fella had been abused and was emotionally scarred. I guess we just wanted to give him the love that he deserved, and to make up for the suffering he endured under the hands of my fellow human beings.
Muffin was and still is wary of us handling him, but he has his moments when he would approach us for cuddles. He may not be as sweet as Kootoo or Milo, but he is still our Muffin.

He is so adorable. How could anyone resist him? And we used to think he is a girl hahaha
It is really great joy when a cat or kitten goes into a "perfect" family like yours.
I hope more people will walk into a shelter and pick the "most unadoptable" cats or kittens so that we can undo some of the worst unkind acts, courtesy of our fellow species.
Mi-Ni, too, has been one year in my family and she won't be allowed to be carried for more than a few seconds and doesn't know how to play with the usual toys such as a dangling pen. This could be due to a warped kittenhood that ended with her tail chopped off and then thrown to survive in a carpark!

hmmm, we are not a "purrfect" household lah, just doing our best to live and let live.
I guess most people find it hard to accept "damaged goods" or those "left on the shelf". It's only human. We can only wish that more people can open their eyes and hearts to the sufferings of all sentient beings.
i often wonder how long the emotional scars last in a cat that has had just one incidence of abuse.
but muffin is one of the lucky ones. he is a cutie and i hope he will have many happy years with u!
anon, I think Muffin's case prove that an isolated abuse incident can scar an innocent animal for quite some time. We can never quite tell how long the trauma will have an impact on the animal. It cerainly takes a lot of love and care to "undo" the harm done.
