Identity Crisis

From the desk of blur and shocked Mama Piggy:

Muffin is a BOY.

Wow this is amazing!! I woke up from a nap to discover that I have bollocks!

In my haste to bring Muffin home, I forgot to double-check HIS gender before adopting HIM. I don't know what prompted me to take a closer look at HIS organs this evening. Lo and behold - I found two tiny lumps underneath HIS arsehole. *Hair-tearing moment*

Hmmppf ... For all my stupidity, the good thing was Muffin is an androgynous name, and it costs less to neuter him -- afterwhich I could call him a Pansy too.

eh... at least his identity was sorted out in a jiffy. how did it happen, was it mothering instinct that prompted you to 'lift the skirts"?

Still, jolly good show, I say! Kheilly was misunderstood for almost THREE years

*slinking off in embarrassement*

As a result of shoddy recruitment practices resulting in more testosterone (and cuts and scratches) than necessary in the house, I have fired the Manager of Recruitment with immediate effect.

Bollocks. Sheesh.

Senor Miaow,

I hope you will love Muffin just as much even though he's a boy

cat_aunty: only four words can describe what happened: bak chew tak stamp ...

Thank you for "commiserating" with me, vegancat, 5-Cat Style and the letter b ... I am convinced that Muffin has mastered the art of masquerading as a SHE to hoodwink ME, like some insects/animals in the wild (hey I watch a lot of Animal Planet/Nat Geo/Discovery so this masquerading as opposite sex thingy is no hogwash okay) ...

Dear Celeste: innocent-looking cats grow up to be Monsters like Kootoo ...

kxbc: Indeed, it'll be another four to five months at least before the peas can be harvested and fried ...

And my dear calsifer, it took you THREE years to discover the boo-boo? Poor Kheilly must have been the butt of jokes in the family!

DIR HR: No Sir, please don't fire me!!! I need to feed du Monster and du Terror -- the kids need their Sweetmeats and Snacks and Glitter balls and Squeaky Mouse! And the little one needs milk. I will atone myself, please give me another chance, I will bring a magnifying glass to the shelter this time round to make sure I bring home a puss... er, I mean, a girl!!

Anonymous aka Senor Achiwawa - what's with your penchant for little boys??

oh yes Mama Piggy, nature has lots of males masquerading as female and vice versa. and there are even hermaphrodites out there too. but the most scary bit is only when we discover our pets' actual sex many moons later.

regardless, animals - especially those in the wild - have proven time and again that they are alot more highly intelligent and exhibit more common sense than us humans. despite us being educated, invented many tools and suchlike. and animals could even read us better but what do we give them in return? more destruction to the point of extinction.

anyway, yayness for being another nat geo/animal planet/discovery fan :D

Dear Mama Piggy,
In our defense, Kheilly is rather fluffy. Lucky for him, Kheilly was homeless until 1 month ago, when we inducted him and his mum Rheilly into sheltered slackerdom. He's still going through the peek-a-sniff protocol, and so has not been formally introduced to the resident slackers. A small mercy - I don't think i can afford the psycho couch fees if his psyche needs mending.

Honestly, it wasn't my fault, it was my cat-feeding sibling, btmao's ASSumption - Kheilly does look very PURTY.

Hey, fellow animal-planet junkies! I would say in this case, that sexual musical chairs is not the main theme - rather, it's disguise for survival, like stick insects. Muffin seem to have gone one up - he got you rather like the Rafflesia got its pollination.

Anyway, to be 101,000% sure of recruit 3, you can do like the vet did with Kheilly - check for peas, if there be peas, then try to see if the pea-stalk is there for the unsheathing, you know, just to be doubly sure. Please quadruple check for peas if bloomers are fluffy - fried ones shrivel with age, and fluffy bloomers hide a lot of stuff, as we've found out to our eternal chagrin.

I must ask my Mommy and daddy to double-check Thing. It might just be a boy too and THAT I simply cannot allow in MY house. One Prince is good enough.

Awww!!! :)

Not a problem for you I hope? You weren't SPECIFICALLY looking for a girl, were you?

At the end of the day what really matters is the kitty's personality and health, and how well he/she/it gets along as a member of the family. All you need is love! ;)

btw... I thought Chocolate was a boy until she was about six months old. And Choc's NOT fluffy, so I don't even have an excuse.

Heh. Love is blind too.

We actually specifically look at the gender of the cats when we want to adopt. I like girl cats while my wife likes boy cats. We argue whether it's going to be a boy or girl and so far , we have 4 girl cats and 1 boy cat. Yeah! I win so far. The little boy was something we could do nothing about. But he's still a cute little one.

*chuckles* Well at least you found his two tiny lumps; otherwise, he could have grown up with quite the complex.
