Itchy Scratchy

From the desk of Mama Piggy:

Kootoo Monster is going to the vet again tomorrow.

His ears are not getting better despite the medication.

In fact, it got worse. The build-up of gunk in his ears is a sight not for the faint-hearted.

Despite us cleaning his ears everyday, the brown stuff refused to go away, and Kootoo Monster's ears got rather sore and tender from all the swabbing ... My poor baby.

Cat quote of the day:
Cats don't have to be put on pedestals - they put themselves there.

Oh dear, a bad case of ear mites. Kootoo will hate you for giving him the most dreaded ear drops treatment.

Well the vet had said earlier that it was a mild infection, we hope that it's nothing serious ... Kootoo hates the cleaning and the ear drops, but we tried to make "amends" by giving him treats after every session.

Oh no, been there done that. Hat didn't like the ear cleaning AT ALL, but Max was very cooperative. Both of them were cured eventually. Good luck.

I remember a friend who brought his cat with recurrent ear infection suspected to be ear mites to vet. She applied Revolution into the affected ears and onto the nape. It cleared the infection.

yeah yeah revolution is great. Works perfectly, no pain, does the deworm, mites and everything else too.

go get from the vet la !

Kootoo, I feel for you. I have allergies which make my ears fill up with gunk constantly. With it being summer right now, I am in a horrific state. I hate Epi-Otic, and I can only imagine how much you must hate it too right now. I hope it clears up soon.

Bon Bon has this brown gunk in her ear regularly too, despite repeated cleaning. Clean it today and it will be dirty again the next day. The vet had however found no sign of any ear mites. He told us to just clean with a cotton pad moistened with warm water. It works for BB but the brown gunk still exists. Already given up hope.

Hope things work out for the Kootoo Monster.

The strange thing is that Kootoo's ears, through never really that clean, was never this bad ... even the vet was aghast at the brown gleaming gunk ... We'll see how things work out, but no harm giving Revolution a try ...

MAybe some cats just have dirty ears. It's like a genetic thing. XX and CC have gleaming clean ears for weeks even though no one cleans their ears.

However, KK, BB and YY have dirty ears. But only BB is bothered by the gunk. We surmise that maybe BB came from a priveleged background and is therefore more pampered whereas the other 4 are from a true blue stray lineage and thus are stronger genetically.
